Over 90 Drown in France as Heatwave Drives Surge in Swimming Deaths

Since June 18, more than 90 people in France have died in drowning incidents. Marina Ferrari links the deaths to the heatwave that gripped France for about ten days in June.

We have seen a decrease in recent days, so there is a clear connection with heat peaks when people seek coolness, says the minister.

For several days, temperatures hovered around 40 degrees Celsius in large parts of France. Several heat records were broken.
