Over 60 people have lost their lives in floods caused by heavy rainfall in Pakistan, the country's disaster authority reports. More than 100 are injured.

Behind the water masses are the annual monsoon rains. The weather has struck worst against the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the northwest where 23 people have died, of which ten are children, according to the authorities.

In the Punjab province in the east, 21 people have lost their lives, of which 11 are children.

The actual causes of death vary, Al Jazeera reports that roofs have collapsed and entire buildings have fallen down in some places.

In total, 64 people have been killed and 117 injured in the past week.
