Dimona, in the desert of southern Israel, was hit by an Iranian missile, which struck a building. The impact reportedly caused extensive material damage, but none of the people injured were reported to be seriously hurt, according to the Magen David Adom rescue service.
The city is home to a large nuclear facility - where Israel is believed to store its nuclear weapons - but the facility is said not to have been damaged. The military says it will investigate how it failed to stop a rocket attack on Dimona.
The attack came shortly after Iran announced that its nuclear facility in Natanz had been attacked. According to Iranian state television, the attack on Dimona was a direct response to the attack on Natanz.
