The explosion occurred on the ground floor of an apartment building in the Neukölln district during the night to Monday, resulting in a extensive fire.
A total of 47 people are reported to have been injured in connection with the incident, about ten have been taken to hospital and one person is reported to be seriously injured.
What caused the explosion is currently unclear.
