Over 30 Dead in Crowd Panic at Indian Political Meeting

Over 30 people were killed in an accident when panic broke out in a crowd at a meeting with the politician Vijay.

The Member of Parliament V Senthilbalaji in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India, where the accident occurred, said late on Saturday that 31 people had been killed. The Health Minister of the state, Ma Subramanian, said that at least 36 people had been killed and that around 40 people were injured.

Among the dead are at least eight children, according to Subramanian.

The crowd in the Karur district had gathered for a political meeting with Vijay, with the full name Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, who is a popular actor running a political campaign.
