During the night towards Saturday and the morning, at least 32 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza City, according to medical sources for AP. Among the dead are twelve children, according to the morgue at Shifa Hospital. The Hamas-controlled civil defense in Gaza also reports that five people have been killed since Saturday morning.

The Israeli military (IDF) has dropped leaflets over the western part of the city urging people to evacuate. At the same time, ongoing air strikes are taking place, according to the Hamas-controlled civil defense.

Over 250,000 people have left Gaza City in recent weeks, according to the Israeli military's spokesperson Avichay Adraee. People have left the city for other parts of the Gaza Strip "for their own safety", according to Adraee. The IDF has urged people to leave Gaza City as their attacks are stepped up with the goal of taking full control of the city.

According to UN estimates, around one million Palestinians live in and around the city.

The UN warns that the offensive may worsen the already acute situation as it has already been established that a fully developed famine prevails in Gaza City.

Israel has not commented on Saturday's attacks.
