Over 100 people are reported to have been injured in the attack on al-Arqam school northeast of Gaza City. Several people are still missing, according to spokesperson Mahmud Bassal.

The Israeli army IDF announces that it has attacked one of "Hamas command and control centers in the Gaza City area", without providing any details. It is unclear whether the attack on al-Arqam school is referred to.

"The command and control center has been used by terrorists to plan and execute attacks on Israeli civilians and IDF forces", states a statement from the army.

During the night against Thursday, more than 50 Palestinians were also killed in Israeli airstrikes, reports Israeli media citing health authorities in Gaza.

On Wednesday, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the military offensive against Gaza will be expanded. Israel will "take large areas" of the Gaza Strip and incorporate them "into the State of Israel's security zones", according to Katz.
