According to the district court, several of the convicted individuals were part of a criminal network that had been selling drugs in Värmland for a long time.
"The court has determined that the crime was both systematic and organized, and it had significant consequences for society," said Councillor Urban Nilsson in a press release.
A total of 22 people were charged with involvement in the case - 21 of them were convicted while one person suspected of money laundering was completely acquitted.
Several of them have been sentenced to long prison sentences, including a man sentenced to 12 years in prison for, among other things, serious drug offenses, violations of the Weapons Act, assault and extortion.
