The error was made during the count of votes on the Wednesday after election day. It involved 121 early votes, of which 117 were valid and four were deemed invalid. Once the error was discovered, it was too late to send the votes to the County Administrative Board.
Jesper Jacobsson says the votes are unlikely to have any significance in the parliamentary or regional elections. However, they could affect the distribution of seats in the municipality.
Simrishamn is a relatively small municipality, so it could be important, he says.
It is still unclear whether what happened could lead to a new election.
