According to the White House World Cup coordinator, Andrew Giuliani, 1,139 drones were recorded during the group stage. Around 300 of them were neutralized, but exactly how is still unclear.
Several hundred million dollars have been spent on drone surveillance during the championship, and police officers working in World Cup cities have received various forms of drone training.
