Where exactly the chickens came from is unclear, but they were dropped along a stretch of nearly two miles.
"There has probably been a lot of chasing," Johan Håkansson of the police tells GP.
The road was closed for about an hour on Wednesday night and the police have filed a report of inadequate cargo securing.
"We have contacted the county administrative board or the Swedish Board of Agriculture to see how the chickens will be taken care of. The fate of the chickens will probably be someone else's concern now," Johan Håkansson tells GP.
