"Healthcare workers in Ituri are doing everything they can to stop the outbreak, but without the most basic tools it is not possible to fight Ebola," says Alice Ribes, head of Rescue's operations in Ituri province in the eastern part of the country, in a press release.

The warning came as new statistics were presented on Monday. Of the 550 confirmed cases of Ebola, 101 have died and 19 have recovered.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched an effort worth the equivalent of almost five billion kronor to combat the outbreak.
