That the security chief in Ystad Municipality points out Bornholm's vulnerable position in the event of war and a possible future need for evacuation raises concern on the Danish island, reports BT.

The security chief has in Ystad's Allehanda raised the question of Ystad having to prepare to receive evacuees from Bornholm.

I thought at first it was an April Fool's joke, and the worst thing is that this sets off a lot of thoughts among ordinary people on Bornholm, says René Danielsson, local politician on Bornholm for the Danish People's Party, to the Danish newspaper BT.

He is reacting primarily to the fact that the question is being raised in Ystad before either Danish authorities or Bornholm's political representatives have been involved.

Per Björkman, security chief in Ystad's municipality, has referred to the Swedish work on a total defense plan, where municipalities are to review the possibility of large-scale evacuations or accommodations.

Ystad's security policy situation means that it is an evacuation municipality. But I have also raised Bornholm and see that we can get an accommodation situation when the people of Bornholm need to be received, he has previously said to Ystad's Allehanda.

He also said that Ystad's municipality must initiate a dialogue with Bornholm's representatives on the issue.
