Outcasts, The White Stripes and Cyndi Lauper are some of the artists who this year are elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Even Joe Cocker and Bad Company got to join, already after their first nomination, writes Billboard. Despite a several decades long career, it was not until now that Chubby Checker was nominated, and he was also elected on the first attempt. Even Soundgarden got a yes.

For the sixth year in a row, the hip-hop genre is represented among the elected, in addition to Outkast, Salt-N-Pepa gets to join the prestigious institution.

On the other hand, both Oasis and Mariah Carey were overlooked for the second year in a row.

The artists can be nominated 25 years after their first commercial recording. Last year, Cher, Mary J Blige, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest were elected.
