Östersund won the vote against the Finnish city of Kontiolahti, 37-10.
This will be the fourth time that Östersund has hosted the Biathlon World Championships. The last time was in 2019, when Hanna Öberg took Sweden's only gold medal. Before the championship comes to Östersund, the World Championships will be held in Otepää, Estonia, in 2027, Hochfilzen, Austria, in 2028 and Oslo in 2029.
