Allsvenska Öster has fired the head coach Martin Foyston. Now it is clear that Roberth Björknesjö takes over the role with immediate effect.

”It feels enormously inspiring to come to Öster and I am both proud and happy to be here. I want to come in and contribute with my energy and that we will play an energetic football. It will be an exciting challenge and I really look forward to getting started”, says Björknesjö in a statement.

The 52-year-old's most recent coaching assignment was as head coach for Djurgården between October and December 2024. He was also coach for Öster in 2014.

”We are in a situation where we need to get in new energy ahead of the allsvenska autumn and then "Robban" fits in perfectly. He has recently gained experience of a similar assignment in Djurgården and I am convinced that this is the best solution in the short term”, says Öster's sports manager Ola Larsson.

After 22 rounds, Öster is on a qualifying spot to stay in the allsvenska.
