Mjällby took a huge step towards the SM gold and one of the biggest sensations in domestic Swedish club football. At the same time twelve miles north: Öster snatched three heavy points in the battle to get to play allsvensk football next year.

For those who like excitement to the end, the conditions are good that the fight in the bottom of the Allsvenskan table goes all the way into November.

Öster and Halmstad are to a high degree in the midst of the survival struggle.

Now the clubs met – and with the 3–0 win, the distance between them is three points with four rounds left to play. Halmstad is on safe ground with 28 points, Öster is on a qualifying spot with 25.

Strong first half

Anssi Suhonen and Daniel Ljung led Öster to 2–0 in the first half.

I think we make a really good half. Intensive. We put high pressure on them and should make a few more goals, I think, says Ljung to HBO Max.

Ljung about his 2–0 goal:

We have talked about the outer side coming into that gap. I had an exactly similar chance in the previous match but then I missed the ball. Nice that I hit it this time.

After the break, Vladimir Rodic increased to 3–0.

Vukojevic point saver

At Stora Valla, Degerfors desperately chased points after Jeppe Okkels' leading goal for Djurgården – but looked long to be without. Then the returnee Dijan Vukojevic stepped forward and pressed in the 1–1 equalizer in the second last regular minute. Vukojevic has now made four goals in the last three matches.

It can be important in the end. We have to take what we can get. I had not had a real shot in the whole match, he says about the point and the goal.

This means a lot for the confidence and morale in the team, says Dijan Vukojevic to HBO Max.

Degerfors remains below the relegation line and the distance up to Öster is two points. After the World Championship break, Degerfors will meet Halmstad at home and Öster away in turn.
