Oslo District Court Rules Marius Borg Høiby Should Be Released, Prosecution Appeals

Oslo District Court has decided that Marius Borg Høiby, the “bonus prince,” should be released from detention, Norwegian media report.

According to NRK, the district court has decided not to extend his detention.

The prosecution has appealed the decision, which means it will not take effect until the appeal has been processed.

We are very happy with the decision. Marius is happy and relieved, but is taking it with caution until the decision becomes legally binding, says the bonus prince's defence lawyer, Daniel Storrvik, to VG.

Marius Borg Høiby was detained when the trial against him began in February, but has been living at the crown prince's residence, Skaugum, since July, wearing an ankle monitor.
