The superstar Naomi Osaka withdraws from Japan Open, announces the Japanese tennis association.
This due to a back injury that forced the former world number one to withdraw from China Open last week.
Osaka reached the round of 16 in China Open last week. There, she broke against Coco Gauff in the second set, due to back pain.
"I got a lock in my back during training before, and honestly didn't know if I could play. But I wanted to try, unfortunately the injury just got worse and worse during the match", Osaka wrote on social media after the match.
Japan Open takes place on 14-20 October in Osaka.
