From near and far, about 2,500 birthday cards have arrived for Punch, who celebrates his first birthday on Sunday, according to the zoo in Ichikawa, Japan.
Pictures of the little macaque king seeking comfort in a stuffed toy in the absence of his mother quickly went viral, and Punch gained a devoted fan base on social media who followed his struggle to be accepted by the group. He eventually found friends in the group, and now doesn't have to rely solely on his orangutan stuffed animal.
