"It's tragic. My thoughts go out to his family. It's like a knife in the heart," says former international professional Jiloan Hamad, who played for the same club, to DN.
The man was found shot in Örebro on Saturday evening and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
"I've been away from Örebro for so many years and he's young. But he hangs out with many people I've also played with, or whom I know or mentor today," says Hamad.
The elite team Örebro SK is also affected.
It started with me finding out that there had been a shooting, and then it quickly grew to the point where we needed to handle the crisis of our own player, who was best friends with the victim," says ÖSK coach Rikard Norling to DN.
No one has been arrested for the murder.
