This according to an agreement that the President of the USA, Donald Trump, will discuss with China's President Xi Jinping this week.
The agreement, which was presented on Monday by high-ranking American and Chinese officials after two days of negotiations in Madrid, is about creating a USA-based version of the popular social media app.
The Trump administration has demanded that Tiktok's owner, the Chinese company Bytedance, sells Tiktok in the USA. According to a draft of the agreement, Bytedance's ownership share will be reduced to below 20 percent in order to be in line with the American requirement from 2024, which requires that the Beijing-based company sells or risks being banned on the American market.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump announced that the deadline for the Tiktok agreement between the USA and China is extended to December 16.
