E-commerce turnover in October reached SEK 13.1 billion – an increase of 16 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the Swedish Chamber of Commerce's e-commerce indicator.

This means that it is the fourth month in a row with double-digit growth figures.

Per Ljungberg, Innovation Manager at Svensk Handel, calls the figures a statement of strength.

"Companies are entering Black Week and Christmas shopping with renewed optimism about a strong end to the year," he says in a press release, also referring to the EU countries' announcement in November to abolish duty-free access for packages worth less than 150 euros, with the aim of, among other things, combating competition from China.

The sales growth is due to those who shop online spending a significantly higher amount on average than last year, rather than more people shopping online.
