She is considered one of the last of the golden generation of Swedish opera singers who were prominent during the 1950s and 60s, SvD writes.
Margit Busk Jonsson was born in Dalarna in 1929, the daughter of a tanner, and after her debut in the mid-1950s, she spent three decades as a soprano at the Royal Swedish Opera.
She was also known for appearances on radio, television and film – including in the film adaptation of "Värmlänningarna" from 1957.
