OpenAI audits its own AI agents with AI after hacking incidents

OpenAI's models have been unruly over the past year, hacking several websites on their own initiative. The company is now auditing its AI agents at a cost of $500,000 a day, The Guardian reports.

This corresponds to approximately five million Swedish kronor a day.

The ChatGPT owner initiated the review after its AI agents hacked the Hugging Face platform and Australia's Medicare health insurance system, among other things.

The material that needs to be reviewed totals 50 petabytes of data, roughly 50 million gigabytes. According to the company, it would take a human 66 million years to go through it. So they're letting AI do the work instead.

The review is still ongoing and more organizations may be informed if it turns out that they were subjected to attacks.
