It was last week that the startup company Hugging Face, which also works with AI, noticed that its system had been hacked.
“We suspected that the attack came from a state actor, given how sophisticated it was,” said Hugging Face founder and CEO Clément Delangue in a statement.
Delangue also says they are in dialogue with OpenAI.
"We are convinced that there was no malice on their part."
According to OpenAI, the incident occurred during an evaluation of two AI models.
"The most important lesson from this incident is that the safety and protection of the models must keep pace with rapid technological developments," the company wrote in a statement.
