The crisis of confidence is huge for Sandra Ruuda, chairwoman of the Swedish Equestrian Federation. Now demands are being made for her resignation in an open letter.

Despite the decision to withdraw the 13-year age limit, equestrian star Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and more than 160 others who signed the open letter believe that the damage has already been done. The open letter states that there is a lack of transparency, a lack of decision-making support and a disregard for members' democracy.

During a press conference on January 30, Ruuda said that the decision had been withdrawn out of “respect for the democratic process.”

The letter writers do not consider this statement credible. The letter states that nothing would have happened without the members' strong pressure and the demand for an extraordinary general meeting.

The letter calls on Sandra Ruuda to take responsibility and resign voluntarily.

The decision that stirred up strong emotions concerned a 13-year age limit for participation in national and international competitions.
