As part of the agreement, Open AI, the company behind the chatbot Chat GPT, will design the hardware and collaborate with semiconductor manufacturer Broadcom to develop it, according to a joint statement on Monday.
The plan is to expand the capacity in an AI data center by 10 gigawatts and the companies will start installing racks with servers containing the equipment during the second half of 2026.
Broadcom's share rose sharply after the announcement.
