The former world number two Ons Jabeur is pausing her tennis career, she announces on social media.
"Right now I feel it's time to take a step back and finally put myself first: to breathe, heal, and rediscover the joy of just living", Jabeur writes.
The Tunisian has been struggling with several injuries for several years. In this year's Wimbledon, Jabeur had to interrupt her match in the first round, and left the court in tears.
"The last two years I have pushed myself so hard, fought my way through injuries and faced many other challenges. But deep down I have not felt happy on the tennis court for a long time".
Jabeur reached the final in Wimbledon 2022 and 2023, but lost both times. She won a WTA title in 2021.
Today, Jabeur is ranked 71st in the world.
