According to the news site Politico Europe, the figure comes from the European Commission, which has produced a calculation of what could be collected using three new EU revenues proposed by the European Parliament.
In addition to the gambling tax, it would involve a tax on multinational online giants, which could generate up to SEK 50 billion a year, as well as a tax on crypto transactions, which could potentially generate SEK 10-40 billion.
The European Commission, the European Parliament and several member states are pushing for new common revenues for the EU's long-term budget, which is currently being negotiated. Sweden, on the other hand, is among the countries that are strongly opposed to introducing new so-called own resources for the budget.
