Shortly after 10 p.m., emergency services and police were called to a fire in a student housing building in Karlstad. When the emergency services arrived, one apartment was on fire with open flames.
One person is seriously injured and has been taken to hospital by ambulance. Five more have suffered smoke inhalation, says Martin Tysell, duty officer at the Bergslagen regional police.
The fire was under control just before 11 p.m. A preliminary investigation into aggravated arson has been opened.
