Shortly after 10 p.m., emergency services and police were called to a fire in a student housing building in Karlstad. When the emergency services arrived, an apartment was on fire with open flames.
One person is seriously injured and has been taken to hospital by ambulance. Five more have suffered smoke inhalation, says Martin Tysell, the duty officer at Bergslagen regional police.
The fire was brought under control just before 11 p.m. A preliminary investigation into aggravated arson has been opened.
