"The first person has been successfully rescued from the cave," the Thai rescue team assisting in the operation wrote on social media on Friday.
The trapped men entered the cave system to search for gold but became trapped when torrential rain flooded the cave entrance.
International specialists have been called in to participate in the rescue effort.
