Two people who were out on a boat in Askersund, south of Örebro, were reported missing on Wednesday morning. Police later found the boat and contacted one of the people.
One of them was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter. At 2 p.m., the police wrote on their website that the person had died.
One person has been detained and will be questioned. The police are currently investigating the incident as a suspected serious crime.
"We are working intensively to create a clearer picture of what happened. We are carrying out several investigative measures. The classification is fluid. There are unclear circumstances that mean we must investigate the case as a serious crime," says police spokesperson Sara Fritz.
