Much is unclear about the events at RAF Fairford military air base, which is used by both Britain and the United States - including in the Iran war.
One of the five masked men arrested at the base on Sunday had himself called the police emergency number shortly after midnight, the BBC reports. This is said to have happened before the farmer, who had previously been reported to be the one who alerted the police, called.
No explosives were found in the three vans seized outside the air base, but “a quantity of petrol”, according to police. The five suspects, all British citizens aged 20-25, were released on bail on Monday.
