The survey, conducted by Novus on behalf of Stockholm Art Week, included 1,174 people. Of these, 75 percent believed that art and culture are important in an open and permissive society, and just over half of those surveyed said they were interested in the subject.

Knowledge levels were lower. Few could name more than two contemporary Swedish artists, and 38 percent could not name a single living artist. The names mentioned most frequently were Lars Lerin and Ernst Billgren.

Stockholm Art Week now hopes to increase knowledge with the photo exhibition "Welcome to my art town", which features ten artist portraits.
