The motorists' organisation Riksförbundet M Sverige measured speeds at schools in 23 municipalities around the country this spring. A total of almost 7,700 vehicles were recorded during the morning hours.
The results show that 35 percent of passenger cars were driving faster than the permitted 30 kilometres per hour. For taxis, the proportion was 42 percent, for trucks 39 percent and for buses 21 percent.
The National Association of Motorists believes that the results show the need for regular speed checks and more speed-reducing measures.
