The music industry has a skewed gender distribution among those who decide. 19.2 percent of the CEOs are women, shows new statistics from the trade association Musiksverige.

Since 2009, Musiksverige compiles the Swedish music industry's revenues into an annual report. This year, an analysis of the gender distribution among people in leading positions in the music industry has also been made, which shows male dominance.

Only every fifth CEO in the music industry is a woman, 30.2 percent of the industry's board members are women. The 20 largest music companies in Sweden have 100 percent male CEOs.

The corresponding figure for the entire business sector is 84 percent male CEOs.

"Even if the music industry as a whole is somewhat more equal than the business sector in general, there is much to be done", says Karin Inde, chairman of the Musicians' Association in a press release and adds:

"In Musiksverige's latest perspective measurement, we see that we need to continue working consistently and structurally for the music industry to become more inclusive".
