According to Thomas Furusten, rapportförfattare and undervisningsråd at Skolverket, the result of the investigation is worrisome.

“We also know that safety is closely related to students' mental health, well-being and their opportunities to reach the goals of education,” he says in a comment.

On the school's toilets, changing rooms and showers, the perceived safety is lowest, according to the investigation. Only half of the elementary school students say that students always or mostly greet each other and the teachers with respect.

More than half of the high school students experience that adults only sometimes, rarely or never know if someone is being treated badly.

Approximately 6,400 students and 3,300 teachers answered the questionnaires in the spring of 2024.
