The fire broke out in an apartment in an apartment building on Sunday evening and was extinguished before midnight. Overnight into Monday, police reported that one person had died in the fire.
"The incident is classified as arson, which is standard in this type of incident. But there is no suspect. The scene is cordoned off and we have to wait for the technical investigation to find out what happened," John Sjöblom, the duty investigation officer with the police, told the newspaper.
The fire was reported at around 10:30 p.m. The fire was limited to the apartment.
"The crews on site noticed smoke coming from a window and the letterbox. They forced open a door and extinguished the fire," said Tony Johansson, the rescue service's duty officer.
