One person has died and three have been injured in a landslide in the city of Ketchikan in Alaska, USA. Local authorities have ordered the evacuation of certain streets.
Buildings and infrastructure have been damaged in the landslide that occurred on Sunday afternoon local time, according to local authorities.
A state of emergency has been declared for the area.
During my 65 years in Ketchikan, I have never seen a landslide of this magnitude. Through the landslides we have seen in the area, we can conclude that there are problems in the entire region that we need to gain knowledge about with the support of our state geologist, says Mayor Dave Kiffer.
