One Dead, Several Injured in Roller Coaster Accident at Six Flags Near Atlanta

At least one person has died and several others have been injured in a roller coaster accident in the United States. “We are deeply saddened by the incident involving a visitor at our park today,” the amusement park said in a statement.

The accident occurred on Monday on the Goliath roller coaster at a Six Flags amusement park outside Atlanta, Georgia.

The cause of the accident is not yet clear. Several American media outlets, including NBC, report that a person was seen falling from the roller coaster. People were also evacuated from the ride.

"Park staff and local authorities responded immediately, and we are fully cooperating with local authorities as they complete their investigation," Six Flags said in a statement.

The incident comes less than two weeks after Six Flags announced that a roller coaster in California was being closed following claims that it had caused brain damage.
