Terror-listed Hamas claims to have killed one of their fighters, according to a source to AFP.
Fights are unusual between the Palestinian groups , but for over a week, the city of Jenin in northern West Bank has been exposed to extensive violence since the Palestinian Authority – which coordinates security issues with Israel – arrested several militiamen.
This has led to the Islamic Jihad's military branch calling on Palestinians in the West Bank to "strike, declare a general mobilization and a day of anger" to show their support for the fighters in Jenin.
The Fatah party dominates the Palestinian Authority in the Israel-occupied West Bank.
Hamas, which is the largest rival to Fatah, condemns the security forces and accuses them of "deliberately targeting" fighters and individuals wanted by Israel.
