Novalie Engholm injured her hip in a crash during training ahead of the World Cup premiere in big air in Secret Garden in China.
"I've had a super clear focus to work towards throughout the summer and fall and feel like I've given myself the conditions to get to this level, so it was very sad that it would end with such a heavy crash," she says in a press release.
She crashed when she moved up the takeoff to get better speed. Instead, the wind changed and she got a tailwind. She tried to break the rotation in the jump.
National team doctor Jacob Swanberg says that Engholm will not be able to snowboard for several months and that the Olympics in February are therefore out of the question.
"I haven't had time to think much about the consequences for the rest of the season, but it doesn't feel particularly bright as it sounds from the doctors right now," says Engholm.
In February, Engholm became the first Swede in 14 years to qualify for the World Championships and the 23-year-old had high hopes of winning an Olympic spot.
