Swedish Olympic gold medalists Jonatan Hellvig and David Åhman have not played a match on the world tour since the end of August. Not an optimal preparation for the Beach Volleyball World Championships in Australia next week.

I don't know if you can have these super high expectations, but at the same time we know that we have entered championships before and been injured before and it has gone well, says Jonatan Hellvig to TT and continues:

Of course we will go out to win every match we play and we know that we have beaten everyone there before.

It is the pair horse David Åhman's knee that has been strained.

"I've just come back from my knee injury and started to step up my training. So we haven't had any real training where I've been able to run at full speed yet," says Åhman, nine days before the opening match.

Although the season hasn't gone entirely according to plan, the duo took silver at the European Championships this summer. In training, the pair also spar against their national team mates and world number threes Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson.

"Jacke" and Elmer have had really good results lately, so we know that if we keep up the level in training, then it will still be good," says Hellvig.

The World Championships in Adelaide, Australia, start on November 13.
