The return to the World Championship resulted in a victory for the beach volleyball duo Jonatan Hellvig and David Åhman.

Hellvig injured his thumb during the World Championship tour in Saquarema, Brazil, and was forced, along with radar partner Åhman, to miss the subsequent tournament in Brasilia.

Now that the World Championship tour has moved to Ostrava, Czech Republic, the duo was back with a fully fit Hellvig.

It was a direct victory in their comeback.

Hellvig and Åhman won in two straight sets (21–17, 21–19) against Germans Maximilian Just and Philipp Huster.

But it was not a flawless victory. The Swedish duo made several mistakes, but the Germans failed to capitalize on Åhman's and Hellvig's weaker moments.

In the next group stage match, Åhman/Hellvig will play against Americans Andy Benesh and Miles Partain.
