Heroically enough, the Swedish super duo made it to the final, despite Jonathan Hellvig having suffered an injury on Saturday and being forced to tape his thumb in order to be able to play at all.

The Swedes eliminated the Dutchmen Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot with 2–1 in sets in the semi-finals, and in the final, a Nordic derby awaited.

The Norwegian stars Anders Mol and Christian Sørum provided the opposition. Then, it was a loss for the Swedish duo.

By winning a tight first set with 21–18, Mol and Sørum could grab an early grip, and from there, the Swedes never managed to respond.

The Norwegians won the final in straight sets after 21–15 in the second.

It was the first time that Hellvig/Åhman made it to the final on the World Championship tour this season, after being eliminated in the quarter-finals in Mexico during the premiere.
