Olympic Games gold medalist in mogul skiing, Walter Wallberg, is not satisfied with Idre withdrawing as a World Cup organizer this winter. It is almost catastrophic, he says to Radiosporten.

Due to the economic situation, Idre came on Friday with the message that they are stepping down as organizers of World Cup competitions in mogul skiing and skicross for the coming season.

It's dreadful. It's a scandal to cancel, one and a half months in advance, it's almost catastrophic, says mogul skiing star Walter Wallberg.

It's a competition we Swedes have always done well in. We will lose a World Cup spot (the organizing country gets an extra spot), and two competitions and opportunities to qualify for other skiers who do not have an Olympic Games start.

The Swedish Ski Association hopes to be able to come up with a solution to still organize World Cup competitions in Sweden.

From the ski association's side, we think it's extremely important that we have World Cup competitions. What we're doing right now is that we're talking intensively with Fis, Idre, and other organizers to see if this can be solved in some way, says Pernilla Bonde at the association.
