Stona made history at the Paris Olympics when he won Jamaica's first Olympic gold medal in a throwing event. Barely a year later, he made headlines in his home country again, this time when the now 27-year-old decided to start competing for Turkey.
Now Stona's change of nationality is being blocked - and ten more athletes have received the same message - by the international athletics federation World Athletics.
"The panel found that the applications formed part of a coordinated recruitment strategy led by the Turkish government, through a wholly owned and financed state club, to attract foreign athletes through lucrative contracts," the federation wrote in a statement.
Turkey's plan was for Stona & Co to represent the nation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
