Olympic Games and World Championship gold medalist Ahmed Hafnaoui, Tunisia, has been banned for 21 months for violating anti-doping rules since he missed his whereabouts reporting on three occasions.
The three misses occurred within a 12-month period.
The swimming star surprisingly won Olympic gold in the 400 meters freestyle in Tokyo 2021.
Then, he struck back with two World Championship golds in the 800 and 1,500 meters freestyle in 2023.
The Tunisian withdrew from the Olympic Games in Paris last year. The ban is retroactive from April 11, 2024, and he is free to compete again from January 10, 2026.
According to the International Swimming Federation's anti-doping organization, Hafnaoui has acknowledged his misses in whereabouts reporting.
