British-American freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy criticized U.S. immigration policies, leading to death threats against the veteran on social media; he is competing for Great Britain at the Olympics.

"A lot of the messages have been horrific. People are telling me to kill myself, threatening me, saying they hope I hurt my knee or break my neck during the Olympics," Kenworthy said in a video posted on social media, where he also said he had received a lot of support.

The hate storm was preceded by his posting a picture on Instagram in which he criticized the U.S. immigration agency ICE.

The 34-year-old, who has dual citizenship, won silver in slopestyle in Sochi in 2014. At the time, he competed for the United States, but switched to Great Britain in 2019.
